It would be really nice if Demon's Souls had the Raw upgrade path and buffs like Sunlight Blade and some of the lightning offensive miracles, but that came in later Souls games.The scaling on faith weapons are pretty crappy still. You get more dps from the normal paths and having either Str or Dex up. Buffs are just meant to amplify damage further, which you can't do with the faith path if i'm not mistaken. The Brushwood Armor set is the heaviest armor set in the game. It's also the one that will offer you the best physical defense, which makes it perfect for those playing with a heavy build. It does, however, lack in providing protection in attacks that inflict status effects. Istarelle's damage isn't worth the off-build stat investment. Same goes for the Phosphorescent Pole on Magic builds. Better off with a Blessed Mirdan Hammer for the former and a Moon Mirdan Hammer/Moon Winged Spear for the latter. I now have a Blessed Claymore +5, a Compound Bow +10, and just need one more Colourless Demon Soul to max out the Adjudicator's Shield.
